Health Week

A post in our latest news section.

We have had a great week in All Saints’ thinking about how we can we keep ourselves healthy- both in mind and body.

Healthy Eating

We started with a healthy eating session. All of the classes had the opportunity to try a range of simple healthy dishes from curry to smoothies.

I’m going to have one of each thing every year on my birthday!

Our visitor was really impressed with the children’s willingness to try everything.

Fitness

Throughout the week we had to opportunity to try out a range of sports.

Wheelchair basketball tested our strength and co-ordination. Frisbee football showed us how to work as a team. Rounders gave us a chance to use our ball and bat skills and rugby gave us the opportunity to hone our kicking. The rugby coaches were amazed at the progress each class has made since they came last year!

As always this week involved our whole school sports day. The morning was filled with team games where each house worked together to earn points. As always the hoop challenge proved a great success. In the afternoon, the children took part in the races. It was great to see the children being such good sports-people and supporting each other.

Healthy Minds

This year Mrs Days lead each class in a RelaxKids session. This helped us to to see the importance of keeping our minds as healthy as our bodies. Reception showed some amazing breathing skills in blowing their cotton balls across the hall.

Being Together

We also recognise that we have a healthy school community. This was seen on the support shown to each other in our inflatable challenge and the teamwork shown on our whole school beach trip. We dug holes so deep we found water, played football, skipped and enjoyed each other’s company. It is amazing to see our whole school together in one place and even making a difference by carrying out some littler picking while we were there.

Thank you to all the adults who have supported this year’s Health Week and well done to all who have taken part.
