Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic Social Teaching is rooted in Scripture; it is our moral compass, guiding us how to live out our faith in the world. There are nine principles of social teaching that we share with our children through all that we do, through the curriculum, special events and through our ordinary actions in school. Pope Francis emphasises that it is our duty to work together to bring about a more just and peaceful world: to put love into action. It is vital that our children can articulate the connection between Jesus’ teaching and doing good deeds.
Based upon CAFOD’s LiveSimply approach to following Jesus, through our service to others and when we live out our Mission Statement, we try to:
like Jesus: happy with what we have and in appreciation for God’s creation.
by trying to reduce, reuse and recycle and thinking about our carbon footprint.
by seeing everyone as our sister and brother and holding the vision of our world where no one lives in poverty or is left behind.
All three are equally important and following them will allow real change to happen in our world.
We are currently working towards gaining CAFOD’s Live Simply award. Here are two of the commitments we have made (nine it total) for our school family:
