Year Three Visit Sunderland Winter Garden

A post in our latest news section.

On Friday 7th March, Year Three visited Sunderland Winter Gardens to further their knowledge on plants. We began the day by looking at a variety of plants from around the world and finding out how they were adapted to their environment. We learned that plants that live in hot places usually have small leaves to prevent them losing too much water. We also got to see the largest seed in the world, the coco de mer. After this, we explored the rest of the gardens and enjoyed seeing the canopy from the treetop walkway.

During the afternoon, we enjoyed looking around the rest of the museum and spotting other things we have learned about during the year. We particularly enjoyed looking at some Ancient Egyptian artefacts and some Stone Age tools that were found in the North East. We also loved the rocks and fossils gallery where we tested our memories on what we could remember from this Science topic we studied back in September. We had a brilliant time and were even complimented on our kind and sensible behaviour by members of the public.
